This Microsoft Excel spreadsheet was produced in association with an ESRI ArcMap point shapefile (COAL_PREPARATION_PLANTS_IN) showing the locations of historical and recently active coal-preparation plants in Indiana.
Information that was compiled includes (1) identification numbers of preparation plants and (or) associated mines, (2) names of preparation plants and (or) associated mines, (3) starting and ending dates of preparation plants and (or) associated mines, (4) coalbeds that were processed through preparation plants or that were produced by associated mines, (5) coal production (tons) from mines associated with preparation plants, (6) and miscellenous notes regarding preparation plants, including notes taken at a meeting of personnel of the Indiana Geological Survey and the Indiana Division of Reclamation, Indiana Department of Natural Resources (October 2006).
This Microsoft Excel spreadsheet is intended to be used in conjunction with an ESRI ArcMap point shapefile (COAL_PREPARATION_PLANTS_IN). A key site-identification number (ID_IGS) can be used to relate records in the spreadsheet with records in the shapefile.
This GIS layer was produced as part of an investigation that was conducted in 2006-07 that was a cooperative project of the Indiana Geological Survey, R.E. Mourdock and Associates, LLC., and Purdue University, Calumet. Funding was provided by the Center for Coal Technology Research, Purdue University, West Lafayette.
