IGS Co-Hosts Arc User Group Conference

The Indiana Geological Survey and Indiana University will co-host the 2005 meeting of the Midwest Arc User Group (MAUG) October 5-7 in Bloomington, Indiana.

MAUG is an organization of GIS professionals that use ArcGIS, ArcIMS, and other related Environmental Systems Research, Inc. (ESRI) GIS software. Users are from local, state, and federal governments, universities, utilities, consulting firms, mapping companies, and other private firms.

Meetings are held on a biennial basis with participants coming from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Conferences focus on the application of ESRI technology to solve everyday business needs with an emphasis on technical solutions and problem solving. One goal of the conferences is to allow people to meet to learn how to solve technical challenges, to apply new solutions at their workplace, and to discuss projects and exchange ideas in a friendly, professional, and casual manner.

The conferences provide an inexpensive, local alternative to the annual international ESRI users conference. For more information, including the conference program, how to submit an abstract, and how to register, go to the MAUG 2005 Conference Web site.
