Posted on March 07, 2012
by Chris Dintaman

The environmental remediation layer titled "Institutional Control Sites" has been updated on IndianaMap. A legal measure called an "Institutional Control" (IC) may be required for managed facilities or sites where levels of contamination are found to be at or above residential closure levels. IC's protect human health and the environment by restricting property activity, use, or access.

Updated information was provided by Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), Office of Land Quality personnel with data that are current as of February 20, 2012, and now contains 536 site locations. If you are a frequent user of these data you may wish to re-download it and read the metadata from links provided on the Preview Map of Institutional Control Sites.
