Field Set-up

Photo showing students preparing to collect and analyze ground water from a domestic water supply well on a farm in Dubois County. Students prepare to collect and analyze ground water from a domestic water supply well on a farm in Dubois County. A hose is connected to the well faucet and water is run through two devices, one for filtering and the other for testing ambient characteristics. Filtered samples are bottled and transported to the IGS laboratories for the analysis of metals and anions. The testing device is a plexiglass chamber fitted with a suite of electrodes for measuring water temperature, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and oxidation-reduction potential.
